September 14, 2017

Vodafone has launched a new credit card-sized device allowing up to five laptops or smartphones to use a single mobile broadband connection.

Dubbed the Vodafone Mobile Broadband Hotspot, the unit can simultaneously connect up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices to the internet over a 3G wireless data connection.

The unit, also known as MiFi 2352, has a 10-metre range, download speeds up to 7.2Mbps, and is expected to retail at around £25 when it launches in the UK.

Its built-in battery provides up to four hours of wireless browsing on a single charge.

Users can also plug the MiFi into a single laptop to use directly as a mobile broadband modem.

“The Vodafone Mobile Broadband Hotspot offers mobile professionals, students and families a one-touch connectivity solution that turns Wi-Fi-enabled devices such as MP3 players and laptops into connected mobile internet devices,” said Huw Medcraft, Vodafone mobile broadband director.

The MiFi 2352 will launch first in Germany, Spain, and Romania priced €29.

A UK launch date is yet to be announced.
